Dads Who Care was created for one simple reason:
Too many dads are thrown into the UK family court system with no information, no support, and no idea where to turn. When I first received a C100, I did what most people do - I went straight to a solicitor. Within weeks I had a bill of more than £20,000. I was told the case would cost £15,000, but the moment the other side filed long statements and allegations, that figure doubled overnight. Most dads simply cannot afford that. And when you can’t? There is nowhere practical, affordable, or supportive to go.That’s the gap Dads Who Care exists to fill.
What I discovered the hard way - I had to learn everything as I went along:- What a C100 actually does- What happens at the first hearing- What supervised contact is- What Cafcass do - and don’t do- How statements are written- What are the alternatives to Cafcass- What things cost- When you need a solicitor and when you don’t- And most importantly: how emotionally isolating this process isThere was nowhere that explained all of this clearly. No community of other dads going through the same thing. No place to ask, “Is this normal?”, “What do I do next?”, or “Why is this happening?”So I built the thing I wish had existed when this all began.
What Dads Who Care provides:
This isn’t legal advice. This is lived experience, community, guidance, and clarity.- A step-by-step understanding of the family court process- Plain-English explanations of forms, hearings, Cafcass, ISWs, supervised contact and fees- A supportive community of dads who get it, so you’re not going through this alone- Practical tools to help you prepare, plan and stay grounded- Somewhere to talk freely without judgement, stigma or exhaustion- A space built with compassion, not conflictBecause when a dad steps into family court, he shouldn’t feel isolated, overwhelmed or confused. And no child should lose the stability of a parent just because that parent couldn’t afford £500 an hour.
Why this matters:
For many dads, this experience becomes the hardest thing they will ever go through. Not because they don’t love their children - but because the system is confusing, expensive, slow, and emotionally brutal. No one should have to navigate it alone. You’re fighting for your child. We’re here to fight alongside you.
