Who is responsible for your information?
DHC Solutions is the data controller responsible for the personal information processed through Dads Who Care. Dads Who Care is an educational platform for fathers navigating separation and private family law in England and Wales.
DHC Solutions operates the Dads Who Care platform. This means DHC Solutions is responsible for deciding why and how personal information is used in connection with the Dads Who Care service.
For any question about this policy or how your information is used, please contact us.
Information we collect
Account information
Your display name, email address, whether your email address has been verified, and when your account was created.
Membership and billing information
Your Stripe Customer ID, subscription status, current billing period and whether a cancellation is scheduled. We do not store your card number or other full payment details. When you join, we also keep a short record confirming your membership contract was sent to you by email, including the date, the Terms version that applied, and confirmation that you requested immediate access, so we can send that confirmation once and help if you contact us about your initial cancellation right.
Messages and feedback
What you tell us if you contact us, give feedback on a guide, or report that a guide may be inaccurate or out of date, together with which guide it relates to, where applicable.
Search activity
What you search for in the Knowledge Library and how many results were returned. This is not linked to your account.
Technical information
Information that is an inherent part of running a website, such as requests reaching our hosting infrastructure. See “Who we share information with” below.
We do not collect information we do not need to run this service. We do not currently ask for, or require, court orders, statements, evidence or case bundles.
How we use your information and our lawful bases
UK data protection law requires us to have a valid legal reason, called a lawful basis, for each way we use personal information. The table below sets out our main purposes and the lawful basis for each.
To create and manage your account and provide your membership
Necessary to perform our contract with you, or to take steps you ask for before entering into that contract.
To process your subscription and manage billing
Necessary to perform our contract with you.
To respond to a contact message, feedback submission or accuracy report
Our legitimate interest in providing support and improving Dads Who Care. Where you contact us before creating an account, this is also based on taking steps at your request.
To understand what members search for, so we can improve the Knowledge Library
Our legitimate interest in improving the platform.
To keep Dads Who Care secure and working correctly
Our legitimate interest in operating a secure, reliable service, and in some cases a legal obligation.
We do not use your information for direct marketing. None of our processing currently depends on your consent, so there is no consent to withdraw. If that changes, we will ask for your consent and explain what it covers. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object; see “Your rights” below.
Payments and Stripe
Membership payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. When you subscribe, Stripe collects and processes your payment details directly. We do not receive or store your full card number.
To operate your membership, we store information Stripe provides about your subscription, including a Stripe Customer ID, your subscription status, your current billing period and whether a cancellation is scheduled. Managing your payment method, viewing invoices and cancelling your subscription is handled directly through Stripe's own secure Billing Portal, linked from your account.
Authentication and Supabase
Signing in, registering and password resets are handled through Supabase, our authentication and database provider. Your password is handled by Supabase's authentication service; we do not store your password and cannot read it in readable form.
Account-related emails, such as verifying your email address and resetting your password, are sent through Supabase using a transactional email service to deliver them. Supabase also hosts the database that stores the account, membership, message and content information described in this policy.
Search, feedback and content improvement
If you search the Knowledge Library, we record what you searched for and how many results were returned, so we can understand what members are looking for and improve our guides. This record is not linked to your account.
If you tell us a guide was or was not helpful, suggest new content, or report that a guide may be inaccurate or out of date, we store what you tell us, which guide it relates to, and a link to your account, so we can review it and, where appropriate, follow up with you.
Contact messages
You can contact us without an account. If you do, we store the name, email address, subject (if provided) and message you send us, so we can respond. If you are signed in when you contact us, we also link your message to your account.
Please do not send court documents, evidence or detailed information about your individual proceedings through a contact message, feedback submission or accuracy report. We do not need this information to help you. See our Disclaimer for more on this.
Who we share information with
Supabase
Hosts our database and provides authentication, including sending account-related emails on our behalf.
Stripe
Processes membership payments and manages billing.
Vercel
Hosts and runs the Dads Who Care website.
Resend
Used by Supabase to deliver account-related emails, such as email verification and password-reset emails, on our behalf, and used directly by us to send your membership confirmation email.
Each of these providers processes personal information on our behalf, only for the purposes described in this policy, and under its own security and data-processing commitments. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes. We may also share information where we are required to by law, for example in response to a valid legal request.
International transfers
Some of the providers we use may process personal information outside the UK. Where this happens, we require appropriate legal safeguards to be in place, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or another mechanism recognised under UK data protection law, so that your information continues to receive a similar standard of protection.
We are confirming the specific transfer arrangements for each provider we use, and will update this section with further detail.

- Account information. Kept while your account exists, and normally for up to 12 months after you formally close your account, subject to information we must legitimately keep for longer.
- Subscription and payment records. Relevant financial and transaction records may be kept for up to 6 years where this is required for accounting, tax, payment, fraud or contractual record purposes.
- Contact messages. Normally kept for up to 24 months from when we receive them, unless the matter remains active or another retention rule on this page applies.
- Feedback. Kept for up to 24 months after you submit it.
- Accuracy reports. Kept for up to 24 months after the report is resolved.
- Data-protection complaints. Kept for up to 3 years after the complaint is closed.
Where the law allows or requires us to keep information for longer, for example for an active legal, regulatory, accounting or security reason, we may retain the relevant information beyond the periods above until that reason no longer applies.
Cookies and similar technologies
We currently use only essential cookies, needed to keep you securely signed in, including while you complete membership checkout through Stripe. We do not currently use marketing, advertising or analytics cookies. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.
Your rights
Subject to certain conditions and exemptions, you have the following rights over your personal information.
Access
Ask us what personal information we hold about you.
Rectification
Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
Erasure
Ask us to delete your account and associated personal information. We will do this unless we need to keep some information for a legitimate reason, such as accounting, fraud prevention, security or another legal obligation.
Restriction
Ask us to limit how we use your information in certain circumstances.
Objection
Object to processing that relies on legitimate interests. We will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue, or need to continue to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
Portability
Ask for a copy of information you have provided to us in a portable format, where this right applies.
Right to object
Where DHC Solutions relies on legitimate interests to process personal information through Dads Who Care, you may object to that processing.
Whether we must stop depends on the circumstances, the reason for the processing, and applicable data-protection law. To object, please contact us.
Not every right applies in every situation, and the law sometimes allows us to keep information even after a deletion request, for example where we need it for accounting, fraud prevention, security or another legal obligation.
How to exercise your rights
To exercise any of the rights above, please contact us. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the timeframe required by law.
Complaints
Complaining to DHC Solutions
If you believe your personal information has not been handled properly, you can complain to DHC Solutions through Dads Who Care using our Contact page.
We will acknowledge a data-protection complaint within 30 days, and will consider and respond to it without undue delay.
The Information Commissioner's Office
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent regulator for data protection, at any time. You do not have to complete DHC Solutions' complaints process first, and contacting us first does not limit or affect your right to contact the ICO.
You can find out how on the ICO's website at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Other important information
Automated decision-making
We do not currently make any decisions about you using solely automated means that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
Children
Dads Who Care is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. While the subject matter of the platform concerns children, please avoid including unnecessary personal information about a child in messages, feedback or accuracy reports.
Sensitive information
Please avoid including sensitive information, for example about health, allegations, criminal matters or family circumstances, in contact messages, feedback or accuracy reports unless it is genuinely necessary. We do not ask for this information, and we do not need it to help you.
Keeping this Privacy Policy updated
We may update this policy as Dads Who Care develops, for example if we introduce a new feature or change a provider we use. If we make a significant change, we will take reasonable steps to make that clear, such as updating the date below.
This version of our Privacy Policy was last updated in August 2026.
